SOUND WORK

I have also provided audio for my clients for projects such as commercials, training videos, queue announcements, and break identifiers. As an example, a radio commercial I produced for Menevä Oy:
The largest recording projects I’ve worked on are the releases by my own bands. In these projects, I’ve served in a wide range of roles, including recording engineer, mixer, and executive producer. For clients, I’ve worked as a recording engineer and mixer on projects that have not yet been officially released.

Hundred Headless Horsemen – Apokalepsia (2021)

Production, mixing, composition, arrangement (together with the band Hundred Headless Horsemen), guitar, vocals, lyrics.

The Hundred Headless Horsemen’s debut album, Apokalepsia, was produced, recorded, and mixed entirely at our own studio in Sörnäinen, Helsinki.

HUNDRED HEADLESS HORSEMEN

No Clean Singing reviewed Apokalepsia as follows:

“Perhaps an even better comparison – or, at least, the best one I can come up with – would be to think of HHH as the Death Metal equivalent of their more “blackened” countrymen in Oranssi Pazuzu, a band with whom they not only share a love of sludgy grooves and psychotropic sounds, but also an almost pathological aversion to playing by the rules.

It all culminates with the dreamlike and doom-laden strains of “Cataclysm”, which marries infectious Post-Punk melodies and intriguingly off-kilter rhythms to a backbone of intricately woven Prog-Death guitar work, thus ending the record with one final display of dynamic cross-genre pollinisation which practically guarantees that you’re going to be jonesing for another fix of the band’s signature sonic stimulant again very, very soon.”

HANDLINGNOISE – s/t (2012)

Production, recording, mixing, composition, arrangement (together with the band HANDLINGNOISE), lyrics.

HANDLINGNOISE’s debut album was produced at several different studios; in addition to performing as a musician, I was responsible for most of the recording and the final mix.

HANDLINGNOISE

Postrockstar.com reviewed the album:

“Helsinki’s own HANDLINGNOISE almost slipped under our 2012 radar. In all fairness though the band’s potential almost slipped under their own radar 5 years ago. Originally formed for a one-off performance, the band noticed their potential and after finding a drummer and began recording in 2008 what would eventually be their first full length album. Using borrowed equipment and working in training spaces and cottages, the back story behind HANDLINGNOISE’s latest release is one of those tales of hardship and triumph that lends to the band’s character…

I noticed a lot of elements in the song writing and the way the songs were crafted that tend to be predominant in progressive death metal (think AgallochOpeth, etc). For example, in “Hannibal” the track doesn’t get heavy and aggressive the way most post-rock tracks do. Drumming leads the track into short passages where guitar work and vocals intensify only for a brief moment…

The end result of this Finnish band’s hard work is a fantastic blend of post-rock and shoegaze that captivates the listener and leaves nothing to be desired. As someone who isn’t always interested in shoegaze I found this album to be ridiculously accessible and loved every minute of it. This album is chalked full of quality craftsmanship from the music down to the mastering. Whatever you do, don’t miss this unique album.”
